Bengali Begun Bhaja – Brinjal or Eggplant Fry

Begun bhaja or brinjal fry is a traditional bengali dish ,usually it will serve with dal and rice ,khichdi and also prepared as Puja Bhog  (Food for God) in different festivals like Lokhi Puja ,Durga Puja ,Kali Puja and Saraswati puja  as a one of the fry item . This fry is very tasty , easy and quick to make .
Ingredients:
  •  Brinjal  – 2
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
Method:
  • Cut brinjal into 2 or 3 pieces depending on its size
  • Wash brinjal /eggplant pieces and keep into in a plate
  • Add turmeric , salt and chilli powder on both side of brinjal pieces
  • Add oil in a fry pan
  • Place brinjal pieces into hot oil carefully
  • Shallow fry it for few minutes in low flame
  • Now flip the brinjal carefully and cook other side
  • Do the same flipping until it cooked properly or become red in color
  • serve hot Brinjal fry with Dal,Plain Rice or Khichudi
Note :
  • Be careful while cooking any fry item as oil drops may come out
  • Don't fry try much
  • While putting brinjal into hot oil be careful
