Moong dal pakoda,banana ,Drumstick curry – Mix Veg

Mung dal (beans) or Moong Dal is the most important elements to Indian cooking.  Mung beans is high in fiber and protein and low in GI.Mung dal pakodas is generally liked by everyone. Here i have added these pakodas in gravy with Drumstick (Moringa) and raw banana ( kachkola ) curry. This curry can be had with rice or rotis (Indian Bread). It is very  delicious and our simple personal recipe . I got this recipe  from my mother-in-low and here i am sharing with you . Preparation time:20mins Cooking time: 30mins Serves: 4

[nggallery id=32] Ingredients : For Pakoda :
  • Mung beans (dal) - 1 cup
  •  Asafoetida (Hing) 2 pinch
  • Water for soak
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep fry
For curry :
  • Drumstick  - 3 stick (Peeled and chopped in small pieces)
  • Raw banana - 2 banana (Peeled and chopped in small pieces)
  • Brinjal - 3 ( cut in small pieces)
  • Potato - 2 (Peeled and cut in small pieces)
  • Tomato - 3 ( cut in small pieces)
  • Green Chilli - 3/4
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) – 2-3 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
  •  Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder- 1 1/4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger past - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

Method:

  • Soak dal for 1 -2 hours.
  • Strain it & grind it fine in a grinder. Use as little asafoetida ,salt and water as possible for grinding.
  • Add a pinch of asafoetida .
  • Now adding little water & mixing for 3-4 mins.
  • In a pan heat oil for frying. When ready, drop batter in the wok to make pakoris.
  • In a separate pan, heat oil.
  •  Then add cumin seed, once they splutter.
  • Add potato and banana and fry it.
  • Then add Drumstick and brinjal and fry .
  • Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric, ginger past , tomato and salt
  • mix wall and fry for 2 min.
  • Add water to make gravy.
  • Allow the water to boil 20 mins on sim flame .
  • Now boil for few more mins .
  • Now add the moong dal ka pakoras
  • boil for 3-5 mins
  • garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with pain rice.
Notes :
  • Do not fry much the bananas as they will melt
  • same for brinjal
  • do not boil much the curry after adding moong / Mung dal pakodas , It may break .
  • You can add other vegetables as per your interest like carrot ,beens ,Barbati (Yard long beans)  etc.
