Papaya is one of the well known healthy fruit and Raw papaya or green papaya considered as a very healthy vegetable . This is having many vitamins for our body specially for Skin. today i am presenting tasty and healthy Shahi Papaya Kofta recipe .

 

Preparation Time: 15 mins Cooking Time: 30 mins Makes : 3 servings

Ingredients :

For The Kofta :

  • Raw Papaya ( grated) – 2 cup
  • Besan (chickpea flour) – 1 cup
  • Red chilli – 1/6 tea spoon
  • Coriander powder – 1 tea spoon.
  • Green coriander leaf – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaf – 1 tbsp
  • Oil for deep fry
  • Salt for taste

For The Curry:

  • Tomato – 3
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Ginger – 1 inch long piece.
  • Oil – 2-3 table spoon.
  • Bay leaf – 2-3
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tea spoon.
  • Asafoetida (hing) – 1-2 pinch.
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tea spoon.
  • Coriander powder – 1 tea spoon.
  • Cashew nuts – 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli – 1/2 tea spoon.
  • Curd – 1/2 cup
  • Salt – 3/4 tea spoon (or according to the taste)
  • Garam masala – 1/6 tea spoon (optional)
  • Green coriander leaf – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Butter – 2 tbsp

Method :

For the kofta (dumplings) :

  • First peel the papaya. Then grate the peeled papaya.
  • Now prepare batter of grated papaya for making kofte or dumplings.
  • Add Coriander , curry and pudina (mint ) leafs
  • Add besan, salt, red chilli powder and coriander , turmaric powder and mix well.
  • Now keep it aside for 10 min so that batter puffs up.
  • Heat the oil in a karahi or pan and deep fry the koftas till they become golden brown.
  • Take them out and keep aside.

For the curry :

  • Add 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and place it on flame for heating.
  • When oil gets hot add bay leafs , cumin seeds and Asafoetida/hing.
  • After saute add tomato,green chilli & ginger past.
  • Stir constantly and cook until oil starts floating on the surface then add cashew net past into it.
  • Cook again until oil floats on the surface.
  • Now add turmeric powder, Coriander powder, red chilli powder and curd, stir constantly until gravy starts boiling again.
  • Now add water as per requirement.
  • Stir until it start boiling.
  • Add salt as well.
  • When gravy has started boiling add garam masala into it and mix well.
  • Gravy is ready .
  • Add kofta (dumplings) in this gravy
  • Now cover and cook gravy with kofta for 2 min on low flame so that all spices get absolve in the kofte.
  • Now add green coriander in the gravy.
  • Delicious papaya kofta curry is ready to serve .
  • Decorate with green Coriander and Butter .
  • Serve Shahi Papaya Kofta curry with chapatti, parantha, naan , puries or rice.

Note:

  • Gravies can be prepared in many ways like if you like eating onion then grate or grind it and the before adding tomato paste add onion paste and saute until its gets pinkish in color.
  • You can also use peanut paste, carrot paste, gram flour, sesame seeds paste, coconut past etc.
