Shimer Bichi Dal – Broad beans seeds Curry

Shimer Bichir Dal - Broad beans Curry is very tasty and healthy curry. One of our favorite Bengali Dish .It is very easy and tasty can be serve with hot rice or paranthas . Children don't like this vegetable but it is having lot of fiber and nutrients .

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Cooking Time:  30-45minutes Serves : 2 Ingredients :
  1. Broad beans - 1 cup
  2. Potato – 2 big
  3. Eggplant or brinjal  – 4
  4. Drumsticks (Sojna Data / Shevga) - 2/3
  5. Tomato (fine chopped) - 1 cup
  6. Ginger (grated) – 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder -1/2tsp
  8. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  10. Salt as per taste
  11. Asafoetida (hing) – 1 pinch
  12. Panch phanon mix- 1 tbsp
  13. Oil - 4 tbsp
Method :
  1. First Wash the broad beans and peel the skin off.
  2. Cut egg plants into cube , Peel potato and cut into the cube.
  3. Wash all the vegetables well.
  4. In a kadai or deep pan add oil and heat it.
  5. Then add Panch phanon mix and Asafoetida & fry till crackle.
  6. Light fry the potato in above hot oil .
  7. Now add eggplant and stir well.
  8. Add Drumsticks pieces
  9. Add all  the spices, tomato , ginger and mix well. Cover the lid for 5-10 mins.
  10. When all the spices fried well then add broad beans and mix well.
  11. Now add ½ cup of water for the vegetables to get cooked properly.
  12. As the vegetables get cooked properly.
  13. Take out from flame and serve with steamed rice.
